Desarae manages a freelance research and interactive business to help clients solve complex marketing and web design challenges. By sourcing and directing a team of experienced freelancers, she helps companies connect with target audiences while executing complex website solutions, web design, and strategic direction for campaigns.

Desarae Veit (http://twitter.com/desaraev) is a new media consultant and market researcher, involved in web optimization, user interface, blogging, and social marketing. She is an expert in testing new social software and oversees development, design, and strategic direction for her clients (http://dveit.com/). Based in Minneapolis / St. Paul, MN, she is a graduate of Iowa State University.

Sleep is overrated, what does Desarae do besides work?

When not at work, Desarae's many interests include traveling, rock climbing, mountain biking, snowboarding, hiking, skiing, volunteering and mentoring (for Grip Mentoring, the Ad Fed Communications Committee and Tri Delta's for St. Jude's Children's Research Hospital.) She also enjoys dance, flying, painting, decorating, reading and school.

Education

At Iowa State University, she was a member of Tri Delta sorority, Air Force ROTC, and graduated with a Bachelors Degree in Art and Design with a minor in Military Science, and an Associate's Degree in Science with emphasis on aviation technology. She earned her associates degree in science from DMACC two weeks before earning her high school diploma. Desarae also recently started working towards a Masters Degree in Advertising and someday hopes to pursue a Ph.D.

Work

Desarae is responsible for solving complex design and development problems while connecting clientsÃ to the target audience. She oversees design development and strategic direction for campaigns. Desarae has over 3 years of marketing and design experience working on accounts like Best Buy, Lawry's, P.B.Loco, Premier Mounts, Express Handymen, Sabai Body Temple, The Occassions Group and 3M. Her corporate and agency experience includes Gage Marketing, Risdall Advertising Agency Interactive, Midwest Flying Services, Us Marketing and Promotions, the Des Moines International Airport and the nationwide internet based lead generation company MyFreeEstimates.com. While at MFE, Desarae managed the over 100 affiliates, created e-newsletters on loyalty programs, expanded and managed web site remodel, creative direction, and national marketing campaigns. A graduate of Iowa State University with a major in Art and Design and a minor in Military Science, Desarae's greatest asset is her enthusiasm to work and a love for working with advertising, design, new media and affiliates with a broad range of media, marketing, design and selling experience that has given her the opportunity to wear many hats, while developing presentation and collaborative skills.

Lindt German Chocolate. (In fact, while traveling in Europe, Desarae did her best to buy out the entire Lindt factory in Aachen Germany.) She also loves turtle cheese cake, and has an addiction to Ben and Jerry's Ice Cream.

You'd never know it to look at me, butÃ–

"I was in the Army Reserves (MOS 96B which is Military Intelligence.) From there, I transferred to Air Force ROTC to become a fighter pilot and took part in Civil Air Patrol Flights, as well as the non-military Top Gun program (no sign of Tom Cruise.) I'm just 20 hours short of my private pilot's license and need an internship to get my Air Frame and Power plant Mechanics license. Oh yeah, I've also participated in pageants, cheerleading, competitive dance competitions, extreme sports and am a proud alumnus of Delta, Delta, Delta."

Fast Tracker

Desarae graduated with her Associates Degree in Science three weeks before her high school graduation. She then completed a six-year bachelor's degree at one of the nation's top 10 design schools in just three years.
Self-starter

Desarae started a freelance business at the age of just 17 doing demonstration sales, graphic design and modeling for companies like Procter & Gamble, Pepsi, and Bacardi. She was picked up by two promotional agencies almost immediately and soon became one of Us Marketing and Promotion's top 10 promotional sales representatives Ã± meaning her store's inventory sold out nine times out of 10.

Corporate Climber

After just a week as an account executive at MyFreeEstimates.com, an Internet-based company that connects homeowners to contractors, Desarae was offered a design position and then advanced to Creative Director. As such, she was responsible for managing over 110 affiliate campaigns, along with coding development, search engine marketing, print design, identity packaging and more. She also built over 500 Web pages and started the first internship program for MFE, as well as set up their first print/audio campaigns.

Agency Couture

Desarae now resides at Agency Couture as an Interactive Marketing Strategist and Designer. She happily spends her days leveraging social media for her clients and improving their website's seo capabilities. Agency Couture is a quaint Minneapolis based web design, marketing, and development firm that specializes in offering their clients custom solutions for their sites along with video and marketing solutions.
