This plugin allows you to organize horse information, registration numbers, ID, breed/description data and family trees and data about your horses. Great for horse organizations, Equine Lovers, Breeders and Ranchers. Could also be edited to be used for any animal. If you get stuck or have questions just contact Desaraev at Agency Couture.

Each horse must have their own post within (the category of your choice) defaults to the “Pedigree” category. Inside your posts (at the bottom the page) you can specify horse data, birth dates, mother (dam), father (sire), etc. A complete family list can be displayed on any page with the {PEDIGREE} tag. Horses will automatically be detected and connected including siblings etc. The horses are then categorized by breed, class and descriptive terms and this plugin generates text on your post for 3 headers, all the descriptive data, and auto-connects the horses and gives them a family tree to include foals and siblings.

The original plugin that inspired pedigree builder, WordPress Family Tree Plugin, offers you the ability to connect a family tree. It tells the user who you are, your birthdate, your parents, siblings, children and any deaths in the family. I needed it to go one or five steps further. So I added:

• Horse descriptive data (Horse Breed, Color, Height (in HH), Horse Body Type, Horse for Sale or Sold, Markings, Discipline, Temperament) – Which auto send the user to other horses with similar descriptions.
• Two Registration Number Options which auto-link to the appropriate organization related to horses.
• Added the place that the horse was born (optional)
• Descriptive terms option (active adjectives) that you can choose from a drop down. This will help auto generate a title for the page <h1> that will include the horse breed you entered, gender, the year the horse was born, and that descriptive term.
• Under the H1 tag is an <h3> tag that auto includes the name and sub-title of your blog.
• Under the H3 tag is an <h2> tag that auto includes The price of your horse or the words Sold (up to you)
• Added a CSS for good measure so you can either use your template’s default or custom style this plugin.
• Moved the CSS to it’s own setting tab in the user admin panel under your WordPress dashboard.
• Integrated the option to select multiple fields for some of these fields.
• This plugin also auto generates alt and title tags for your descriptions based off what you choose and your blog title.

What will be added in the next month or so?

• NexGen integration(you know the photo plugin), you’ll need to have that plugin installed. This will simply give you additional styling options and fit it into this plugin so the two mesh well. Yes, they currently play well together without breaking.
• Add a plugin option to embed your YouTube video code.
• Add a section for writing a horse description.
• Make this plugin have it’s own
• Add a widget so you can give excerpts on the side or bottom of your posts (same as CoolRiverRanch.com)
• Give this it’s own Custom Post Type so as an admin, you can give just this to other users without giving them full site access.
• User access options under the plugin’s settings.

Pedigree Builder Installation

1. Copy the family tree plugin directory to the /wp-content/plugins/ directory
2. Activate the plugin through the ‘Plugins’ menu in WordPress
3. Create a page and put a {PEDIGREE} on it
4. Add posts specifying the custom fields available at the bottom of edit posts page, adding the posts to the “Family” category.
